Spacecom and GorillaLink Successfully Prove Smart IoT Network Operation via AMOS Satellites

    15.06.2022

Precision Agriculture is First Market for Joint Initiative

Tel Aviv, June 15, 2022: Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), the satellite services provider and owner-operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, and GorillaLink, creators of next generation IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity, today reported a successful end-to-end solution testing of the smart IoT network operation consisting of Spacecom’s AMOS satellites and ground segments together with the GorillaLink system. Utilizing the widely used LoRaWan technology, the field trial demonstrated real time connectivity and software suite for IoT networks, over AMOS’s powerful satellite fleet.

The project showcases the great potential for fast and simple to deploy, connected and inexpensive IoT devices at rural and remote areas, that lack basic connectivity services such as Internet access and cellular reception. The venture’s use solar power which allows a relatively low investment in the otherwise expensive ground network infrastructure. During the trial, several types of battery-operated sensors, specifically selected for the use in various agriculture and farming application, were deployed. The data collected by these sensors is optimized on site, processed on the Cloud, and made accessible anywhere on an advanced configurable user dashboard.

Spacecom, as a communication service provider and satellite operator is continuously expanding its application based solutions, including in the field of the smart IoT applications for precision agriculture, livestock farming, Oil & Gas, mining and forestry and other projects around the world and in Africa.

“GorillaLink’s solution streamlines the use of satellite communications by providing significant savings in broadband and edge computing via extremely small units thereby enabling optimal data analysis in the Cloud,” reported GorillaLink CEO, Nadav Nachshon. “This field trial indicates that data-based smart agriculture is quite effective in places like Africa where the viable communication option is via satellite and only minimal economic resources exist.”

Spacecom SVP Marketing, Business Development & Strategy stated, “Spacecom is leading and pushing forward the a joint effort with technology-based companies to build meaningful solutions and deliver value to customers. The combined abilities of Spacecom and its AMOS satellites with the GorillaLink technology, enable us to offer a complete  satellite-based IoT solution to customers and we look forward for a successful cooperation.”
