The New Satellite Will be Launched in 2007 and Co-located with AMOS-1 and AMOS-2 at 4°W

Tel Aviv, Israel, March 9th 2005, Spacecom Ltd. announced today that it has initiated the AMOS-3 communication satellite program. Spacecom, the operator of the AMOS satellite system plans to launch the AMOS-3 satellite during 2007 into an orbital position at 4?W where it would join the existing co-located satellites AMOS-1 and AMOS-2. The AMOS-3 would eventually replace the AMOS-1 when it comes to its operational end-of-life which is currently expected in 2008.
 
The AMOS-3 will extend the AMOS satellite system coverage and capabilities. AMOS-3 will have both Ku-band and Ka-band transponders. It will consist of fixed beams which will cover Europe, the Middle-East and the US East Coast. In addition, AMOS-3 will contain steerable beams which will enable Spacecom to reach new markets and offer complementary services. The AMOS-3 has a planned operational lifetime of 12 years.

"Our partner in this program, Israel Aircraft Industries, has demonstrated high skill levels and success rates with the prior AMOS programs and is basing the AMOS-3 design on space-proven technology".
